On 20th October 2017 the Institute of International Economics organised in Genoa a conference on the subject “The Future of Europe: Economic and Social Prospects”. The inaugural speech was held by Angelo Bagnasco, Cardinal of Genova and President of the Council of Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE). The panel of experts attending the conference analyzed the issue Europe has faced and still faces during the last decade. The award of the 9th edition of “Economia Internazionale” and “Francesco Manzitti” Prizes to an economist and to an entrepreneur in recognition of their contributions to the internationalization of Italian economy closed the proceedings. Key papers presented during the conference as well as a number of research papers received in response to a call for papers on the theme of “European Problems and Perspectives: Economic, Social and Political Issues” have been published in issue no. 3 August 2018 of the review Economia Internazionale/International Economics.
